1)Many reputable overseas universities grant up to 1.5 years exemptions to Singapore Polytechnic's Diploma in Accountancy graduates for their 3-year degree courses. The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), an internationally recognized professional accounting body, grants the most number of module exemptions to Singapore Polytechnic's Diploma in Accountancy graduates.

2)In the final year of studies, students can choose a concentration of modules in the following areas, namely:

DPA Camp 2009

While you were at the comfort of your home watching television, some students went out of their comfort zone and into the jungle. What for, you may ask? What else, but for DPA Camp 2009!

What?! You never heard of it?

Direct Polytechnic Admission Camp, DPA Camp in short, is a camp for the SP DPA intake, and its a camp like no other. DPA Camp 2009 was held at Mawai, Johor.

This is what Al-matin Ra'uf Bin Jefri had to say about the DPA camp:
"It was a three-day camp and was not the usual secondary school camp. This was entirely different. The activities we had we challenging, fun, adventurous and I would rate it out-of-your comfort zone. This is definitely a camp I will not forget. It taught me to challenge myself and to get out of my comfort zone. I learnt many valuable lesons, like how to appreciate nature, save water and be more appreciative of the things I have. I would not hesitate to recommend my juniors from my secondary school to choose SP as their first choice if they were to apply throught DPA. I know they will not regret doing so. SP is really a fun polytechnic to be in."

Accountancy is not what most people thought it was. It is far more interesting then counting numbers as you will learn stuffs like marketing, IT, economics etc, that will help you greatly in the future.

Accounting, being the fundamental activity of all businesses, is essential for all business operations. Singapore Polytechnic’s Diploma in Accountancy course trains students in the accounting principles and concepts take on the challenge of sustaining businesses. Students undergo rigorously training in the Singapore Financial Reporting Standards (FRS), as well as auditing concepts, taxation law and corporate law. These aid us in our undergraduate studies and to understand how the business world works.

Diploma In Accountancy does not only offer the studies of accounting in depth. It also covers fundamentals modules of business elements such as marketing, ecnomics and management. Language based module were also introduced to help us strengthen our language so as to be able to communicate better using a common medium - English Language
We studied everything about accounting and widen our knowledge. It provides us with the fundamentals of business procedures as every business require an accounting department. Not only can we use our accounting skills to earn our rice bowl, we can also used it to manage our finance.

I strongly believe that SP DAC students will have a bright future ahead of them because Singapore is a financial hub. Moreover, SP does not only equipped the students with accounting skills, but also other business essentials such as ITAB, Economics, and Statistics.
Take ITAB as an example. This module is definitely beneficial to the students as it enable them to be computer savvy. With those skills on hand, DAC students certainly have the qualities to uptake the future task and strive for success.

Accountancy on first impression may seem like a really dry and boring course, and everybody thinks that whoever's in this course is equally as geeky and boring.
Well, I would like to confirm that although it can INDEED be dry and boring, the course is definitely useful as it is related to various aspects in our life, and every business that we intend to go into in the future involves accounting hence the knowledge we acquire in DAC is definitely going to help us when we graduate from SP. Of course, despite it being dry at times, I've come to appreciate whatever has been taught to us, and furthermore, the lecturers make this challenging learning process for my friends and I an enjoyable one!
